Theory of treatment
The Q-switched Nd: YAG laser delivers a specific wavelength light
with high energy which is absorbed by the pigment as tattoo and
result in a shockwave. The shockwave shatters the pigment
particles, releasing them from their encapsulation and breaking
them into fragments small enough for removal by the body. Then
these tiny particles will be eliminated by the body. This specific
wavelength light can only be absorbed by pigment particles, so it’s
no injury to the skin and the normal tissues will occur.
Picoseconds can be understood as an upgraded version of the traditional Q-switch, mainly dealing with chloasma, freckles, senile plaques and other dermis and epidermis pigmentary diseases, as well as a variety of color tattoos, scars, rough skin and other issues. But why did the name change after Q-switched lasers were upgraded to picosecond lasers? Because this upgrade is not only a little change,but a cross-age significance.
The main difference between picoseconds and Q-switching is the pulse width, an important parameter of the laser. Like the speed of vehicles, the pulse width is very important for lasers. In general, the pulse width of traditional Q-switching can be as low as 4 to 5 nanoseconds, and the picoseconds are exemplified at the most advanced level, can reach 450ps below, convert into nanosecond is below 0.45ns, the short pulse width already exceeds the Q-switched laser many times.
